On Demand is a new public transport service designed to improve connections to transport hubs and popular destinations. The On Demand ferry operates in the Bays Precinct between Barangaroo Wharf in Darling Harbour, Pirrama Park and Fish Market Wharf in Pyrmont, and Blackwattle Bay Wharf in Glebe.
Transdev approached us to design and build the Ferry on Demand kiosk. A self-service kiosk enabling travellers to book ferries and find route times, right at their fingertips. The kiosk provides an on demand service for Sydney Ferries and real-time timetable schedules.
Solar powered stand-alone solution for the on demand use of ferries.
Users can book a ferry trip in advance using the Tranzer app or at selected wharves in the service area to order a ferry on the spot. This allows commuters to “turn up and go” or book a trip on the kiosk at a Ferry-On-Demand wharf then pay on board by credit card tap on and tap off.
The kiosk features a 4G network capability to display schedules and advise patrons, in real-time, of their expected pick up time. The project success meant that getting around the Bays Precinct was much quicker and easier, connecting Pyrmont, Glebe and Barangaroo.
In less than four months, we conceptualised, designed and had approval to manufacture the kiosks for this new ferry network.
