• Making digital and human roles deliberate

That is an architectural decision.
What retail can borrow.
Retail is not an airport or a highly regulated wagering environment.
But the operating discipline is transferable.
High pressure environments assume customers will not wait long once they’ve decided to act.
They assume compliance cannot be deferred.
They assume delays compound.
They design systems to operate under load.
Volume retail is now facing similar pressures – scale, integration, regulation and rising expectation.
As physical and digital channels converge, the number of integration points increases. So does the opportunity for breakdown.
Flow does not emerge by chance in these conditions.
It requires deliberate system design.
Organisations that take that approach feel composed.
Those that do not tend to respond to friction after it appears.
